• UNA offers fully accredited programs in four different colleges, which are recognized worldwide.

Accreditation

UNA is a state university and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097) and separate and additional accreditations for its Colleges of Business (i.e.,ACBSP), Education (i.e., NCATE), and Nursing and Allied Health (i.e., NLN).  Additionally, UNA has accreditation or certification in a number of disciplinary areas such as art, music, and social work.

Practical Training and Job Search
Internship before Graduating

• International students have an opportunity to participate in a semester long internship before
   they graduate
• This is referred to as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) by the US Immigration & Citizenship
   Services (USCIS).
• Although it is the student’s responsibility to arrange internship, the University will provide free
   counseling, advice and other support to assist this process.

Work upon Graduation

• Upon graduation, international students have the opportunity to work in the US for one year.
• This is referred to as Optional Practical Training (OPT) by the USCIS.
• Although it is the students’ responsibility to be hired by an employer, the University conducts
   job fairs and provides many other forms of assistance to help international students to find
   employment for the OPT year.
• If a student does extremely well during the OPT year and has a desire to continue working in
   the US, the employer (at the request of the international student) may petition the US
   government for a work visa.

Scholarships
UNA provides scholarship opportunities for full time undergraduate and graduate students in regular academic programs, which are granted after evaluating the performance of the student’s work at UNA. It is recommended that students attend at least one semester at UNA before applying for any endowed scholarship. Also, special consideration is given to students who are particularly gifted and talented in one or more intercollegiate sports or in music/vocal performance. All scholarship opportunities provided by UNA are coordinated the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
